A local Summit County real estate developer has donated funds to provide Automated External Defibrillators, known as AEDs, to three local childcare centers, according to a news release from the nonprofit Starting Hearts.
The three childcare centers include Open Arms, the Breckenridge Montessori and Mountain Sprouts Academy at Copper Mountain, the release states. The funds for the AEDs were reportedly donated by Breckenridge Grand Vacations’ philanthropic arm, BGV Gives.
Each of the childcare centers received a Zoll 3 AED, which is designed with children in mind, according to Starting Hearts. The defibrillator features a child button that reduces the amount of electrical charge to the child, eliminating the need for special electrode pads.
This is the second AED donation by BGV Gives, with the first five county childcare centers receiving AEDs last year. Those included the Carriage House, Timberline Learning Center, Little Red Schoolhouse, Lake Dillon Preschool and Wildflower Nature School in Silverthorne.
