Birds in Brazil: Part-time resident will present a slide show Monday

BRECKENRIDGE – One needn’t leave Summit County to visit Brazil.

A part-time resident of Breckenridge, Bill Vieth has travelled the world to photograph nature and wildlife. On Monday, Vieth will present a slide slow about the Birds of Pantanal, Brazil. The slide show is a part of the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center’s Summit Adventure Series.

The Pantanal – known to the birding world as a premier wetland that attracts enormous bird populations – is located in western Brazil, bordering Bolivia and Paraguay. Vieth explored the Pantanal in 2000, recording nearly 50 bird species.

Vieth’s presentation Monday chronicles his exploration with lens and light meter as he photographed birds, wildlife and the rapidly disappearing habitats of the Pantanal.

The slide show will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at the Speakeasy Theatre at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge. Admission is $7 and includes door prizes. All proceeds benefit the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center and the Summit Huts Association. Tickets are available in advance and at the door.
