Black-and-white photo exhibit opens in Breckenridge

Special to the Daily/Jessie Paige

BRECKENRIDGE ” “Quietus,” an exhibition of selected photography by local artist Jessie Paige, will be on display at the Breckenridge Theatre Gallery from Saturday through Aug. 3 including an opening reception for the artist on Saturday from 4-6 p.m.

Paige’s black-and-white photographs investigate the human psyche, specifically with notions of loss, grief and death through her relationship with the landscape. Paige immerses herself for extended periods of time in nature and the large-scale prints are visual manifestations of her experience, echoing the internal inquiry and sustained contemplative sensation she experiences.

Paige has exhibited her work in Colorado, Georgia, Ohio, Wisconsin, New York City and San Francisco.

Paige lives in Breckenridge where she works for the Breckenridge Ski Resort marketing department as the events manager. She also serves on the Breckenridge Public Arts Commission, teaches for the Breckenridge Arts District, and is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Fine Arts at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver.
