The Dillon Town Council voted unanimously Tuesday, Feb. 12, to approve $150,000 toward a new backup generator at Town Hall.
Dillon Town Engineer Dan Burroughs told the council that the decision was made to buy the emergency generator after an electrical blackout caused Dillon Town Hall to lose power for an extended amount of time last fall.
Council member Oliver Luck noted that if the Town Hall loses power, the town’s police department, which is located in the same building, also loses power.
The backup generator is expected to be installed sometime in the summer.
