Blue Spruce Inn staff remembers co-worker Sergio Gutierrez Bassillo

On Monday, March 22, Sergio Gutierrez Bassillo, 31, was airlifted to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver. He was the only survivor in the Dihatsu at the time, in a head-on collision on Highway 9.

There was nothing that could be done to save his life and after his family was contacted, he was taken off of life support.

Sergio (The Surgeon) did not have any family in Summit County except for his co-workers and friends at the Blue Spruce Inn, in Frisco.

Sergio had been employed at the Blue Spruce for the past four years. He was a joy to work with. He had an innate ability to juggle 20 orders, get the bread in the oven, the desserts out and his prep done.

All of this was accomplished with a smile on his face, impeccable precision and an energy that was envied.

Sergio leaves behind a young wife and three small children in Mexico City.

He also leaves many co-workers/friends that will never forget him. May you forever rest in peace our friend.
