BMF presents holiday concert

KIMBERLY NICOLETTI

BRECKENRIDGE – The Breckenridge Music Festival presents a night of merry music at its first winter concert this season. The holiday show will include performances of such cherished Christmas classics as “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” “Joy to the World,” “Silent Night,” “Nutcracker Overture,” “Deck the Halls,” “Winter Wonderland” and more. “This concert is ideal for bringing the whole family and provides a much needed break from the insanity of those busy roads and stores,” said Tracy Schwartz of the Breckenridge Music Festival. Several well-known brass arrangers – one in particular being Arthur Frackenpohl – arranged the traditional pieces in the concert repertoire. Frackenpohl has created more than 400 instrumental and vocal compositions. Many of his arrangements have appeared on Canadian Brass albums, including Bach’s “Goldberg Variations and Sacred Brass.”

If you hear a brass quintet and immediately think of Christmas, then this is the concert you won’t want to miss.Performers include: Timothy McFadden, trumpet; Adam Luftman, trumpet; Jill Rodriguez, horn; Raúl Rodriguez, tuba; Jemmie Robertson, trombone; and for her first performance in Breckenridge, soprano Christine Robertson. Members of the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra Brass Section ring in the holidays with a joyful performance of holiday classics at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Father Dyer Church in Breckenridge. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 day of show. For more information, call (970) 453-9142.
