Bob Kluge: Parsons admits his mistakes

I enjoy having coffee in the morning at a local establishment with people of diversified opinions and political views such as Don Parsons. One of the things I and many older locals have looked forward to was the annual 4th of July parade in Dillon. While I did not agree to the recommendation to cancel the parade I did nothing, however someone has done so.

In her April 1 letter, Barbara Edward takes Dillon mayor candidate Don Parsons to task for supporting the town staff’s recommendation to cancel the July 4th parade three years ago – a unanimous vote by the town council at that time. Don now supports bringing the parade back and admits he erred in the previous vote. How many politicians have the courage and integrity to admit their mistakes, then take the initiative to lead the correction of that mistake? Dillon has a rare and valuable leader in Don who demonstrates good judgment and unusual honesty. He deserves everyone’s support, including Barbara’s.

Although, not living in the town of Dillon and cannot vote there, I have a long association with Dillon, having two businesses there in the past and have known many of the locals there, I would support Don with his integrity for the town’s future.
