LEADVILLE ” Police suspect a suicide in the case of a man found in a Leadville Dumpster Wednesday morning.

A Leadville resident reportedly found the body of an adult male in a Dumpster behind the Quincy Block along Harrison Avenue. The body was found at 7:40 a.m.

Leadville Police Chief Jim Zoller and Leadville Police Officer Jody Martinez were first on the scene.

While the police begin every such investigation as though it were a homicide, they suspect it was a suicide, said Zoller. The man apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police were trying to contact the man’s family Wednesday. The name of the person will not be released until the family is contacted, Zoller said.

The case is currently under investigation.
