Boulder Creek wildfire north of Silverthorne was ignited by lightning, agency says
Crews on Saturday, Sept. 7 were working to continue cleaning up after containing a wildfire near Boulder Creek, about 1.5 miles west of Colorado Highway 9 north of Silverthorne, on Friday, Sept. 6.
The fire was estimated to be one-fifth acre in size Friday and was located on a ridge northwest of the Pebble Creek neighborhood.
According to a social media post by the U.S. Forest Service, the fire was fully contained Friday night but clean-up work continued Saturday with crews receiving assistance from a Forest Service helicopter using bucket drops.
The Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit has determined that the fire was caused by lightning, according to the post. That agency, along with Summit Fire & EMS, Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Red, White & Blue Fire Protection District and the Forest Service, responded to the fire.
