Breck awards nonprofit grants

BRECKENRIDGE – Breckenridge Town Council members distributed more than $200,000 to nonprofit organizations and $800,000 to the Breckenridge Resort Chamber during the town’s annual grant process Tuesday.

The resort chamber’s grant money is derived from business license fees and is used to market the town and host special events. Chamber director Corry Mihm accepted a check for $809,688.

From the marketing fund:

– Breckenridge Music Institute, $36,400



– National Repertory Orchestra, $36,400

– Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, $31,000

– Breckenridge Festival of Film, $23,000

– Backstage Theatre, $8,000

– Summit County Visitors Center, $5,000

From the grants and contingencies fund:

– Bristlecone Home Care and Hospice, $15,000

– Carriage House Preschool, $13,400

– Summit County Community Care Clinic, $10,000

– Don Carlson of the Tenth Mountain Division, $10,000

– Summit County Historical Society, $5,070

– Colorado West Mental Health, $5,000

– Summit Recycling Project, $4,000

– Timberline Adult Day Services, $2,000

– CASA of the Continental Divide, $1,000

– Summit County Preschool, $1,000

– Mountain Community Fair, $1,000

– Summit Prevention Alliance, $1,000

– TAME Foundation, $1,000

– Summit Concert Band, $400

Budgeted items:

– Summit Recycling, $14,000 (through public works budget)

– Summit Tipsy Taxi, $5,000 (police department)

– Advocates for Victims of Assault, $4,000 (police department)

– Northwest Colorado Legal Services Project, $1,000 (police department)

Also, the town gave $1,200 to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.

The $1.044 million distributed Tuesday does not represent in-kind services the town provides.
