The verdict is in on the Bud Light Breckenridge Bar Challenge, and the Copper Top at Beaver Run won the hearts of the most judges, according to KSMT “The Mountain” radio.

Not me. I voted for Liquid Lounge.

But Copper Top was certainly likable, what with its Cancun-style deck party, games and DJ ” plus it was a beautiful day to celebrate at the base of Peak 9.

So congrats to them. They earned it.

In retrospect, the Copper Top party could have won my favor if perhaps it were earlier in the week. The Thursday bash came at a time when I was struggling to recover ” I couldn’t even take notes because my hands were shaking so badly.

And I didn’t do any drinking at that one, either. It just seemed like a bad idea.

Plus it was during the early afternoon, so I still had some responsibilities back in the trenches.

My choice of Liquid Lounge was carefully calculated through a mix of great drinks, lots of dancing, super music and a general sense of good cheer.

The bartenders were the fastest, and the crowd had a reasonable male-to-female ratio ” a criterion many of the judges agreed should be counted.

If the spring break 2010 festivities have a similar “challenge,” I recommend it be more survivable than this eight-day streak that truly taxed the human body.

Most of us judges were a few ticks past 21 and not quite the ethyl-guzzlers we may have been in the past. I certainly surprised myself with my lack of firepower after the first four days ” and I’m only 24.

Regardless, every bar I hit that week (March 14-21) was well-stocked with nice people and a party-hard atmosphere. They should all be commended.
