Officer Caitlin Kontak was recognized with the Life Saving Award Tuesday for her actions in January, when she performed CPR, keeping a man alive until paramedics arrived.

Breckenridge Police Chief Shannon Haynes and Mayor John Warner presented the award to Kontak, who received a standing ovation from the Breckenridge Town Council.

Kontak reportedly helped save a patients life after she responded to an emergency medical call Jan. 27 and found the patient unconscious and not breathing. When she couldn’t find a pulse she began CPR until EMS arrived.

Paramedics were able to stabilize the patient. He has since made significant strides toward recovery. He returned home to California and is back at work pull time.
