Breck Mardi Gras parade winners

After a weekend of celebration including the Bacchus Ball with Hazel Miller and the free Lundi Gras concert with BeauSoleil, Fat Tuesday brought 17 floats parading down Main Street, the most ever in the parade’s history. Winners are as follows:First Place: Ski Country Resorts & Sports – A big Mardi Gras mask and balloons decorated an old snowcat pulling a trailer-full of past kings and queens.Second Place: Breckenridge Recreation Center, “Taking the Fat out of Tuesday” – The Breck Rec Center pulled a float of workout-clad cyclists on stationary bikes.Third Place: Breckenridge Resort Chamber Ambassadors, GoBreck.com and guests, “Skeleton Krewe” – a motley krewe rode the snowplow decked in skulls.”It was a lot of fun and Ifm happy that we won against 16 other floats,” said Ski Country Resorts and Sports president Dave Garrett. “I want to continue making Mardi Gras a major event in Breckenridge.”Other parade highlights included a giant king cake made of snow, and of course, 2011 royalty – town council member Mark Burke (and the Burke of Burke and Riley’s Irish Pub) as Rex and Lindsey Fussenegger of local radio station KSMT The Mountain as queen.
