Breck Nature Series presentation and hike set for this weekend

Learn about Colorado’s wild cats, lodgepole pine forests, mountain pine beetles, wildflowers and more during Breckenridge Nature Series events Saturday and Sunday.Colorado is home to three wild cats: mountain lion, bobcat and lynx. Drop by the Breckenridge Nature Series tent noon to 3 p.m. Saturday on the Blue River Plaza in Breckenridge to find out more about these elusive neighbors. Participants will see skulls and pelts, make track stamps and learn about the habits of these wild cats. This is an all-ages program and registration is not required. Donations are accepted. Sunday, join a two-mile hike through the local lodgepole pine forests. The naturalist-guided hike will teach about healthy lodgepole forests, mountain pine beetles, dwarf mistletoe, native plants, birds and more.Participants should meet at 1 p.m. at Carter Park. This program is designed for all ages and advance registration is recommended. There is a suggested donation of $6 a person and $20 a family.
