Breck PD reminds motorists to slow down near schools

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

BRECKENRIDGE – The Breckenridge Police Department would like to remind residents and visitors that Summit County Schools are back in session. That means that many of our children will be walking and riding their bikes to and from school, and playing outside during the day at recess times. When driving in school zones, near playgrounds, or in neighborhoods where children might be playing, motorists should always expect that a child might dart out into the roadway. The speed limit for the school zone at Breckenridge Elementary School on French Street is 15 miles per hour and the speed limit for Upper Blue Elementary School on Airport Road is 20 mph. Generally, the school zones are posted with yellow reflective signs and run from 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Breckenridge police officers will be strictly enforcing all school zones.
