The Breckenridge Backstage Theatre celebrates its newly remodeled venue with its annual fundraising gala on Saturday night featuring a live show with songs from what’s now, new and next on the Great White Way. The show will be hosted by Colorado Theatre Guild Henry Award winner Eric Mather, star of past Backstage productions “The Nerd,” “Out of Order” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
The night’s performances will include a singing and dancing Mormon, kids doing a Jackson Five-inspired funeral home commercial, King George reacting to the notion of American independence, and a zany soothsayer divining the creation of the musical. The show stars Backstage performers currently performing in “Chicago,” as well as singers from past Backstage productions of “Spamalot,” “The Jungle Book,” “The Full Monty,” “Shrek” and “A Christmas Story,” to name a few. Music director Trent Hines (“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”) will be accompanying the artists on the keyboard.
The night’s festivities will feature light appetizers provided by Salt Creek Steakhouse and a silent auction that includes one-of-a-kind experiences: a Disneyland package, season pass to Copper Mountain Resort, golf packages, rafting, gift certificates and more. All proceeds benefit the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre.
