The long search for a producing artistic director for Breckenridge Backstage Theatre is now over. Jacqueline Stone, who has spent the last 10 years serving as the artistic director at the TUTA Theatre in Chicago, is headed to Breckenridge. Stone begins with the company July 18.

According to a news release, Stone also served as the artistic director of the Emerald City Theatre Co. from 2016-2020. Additionally, she was the education director working on programs for kids at Emerald City for 12 years. Stone has taught acting and improvisation at The Second City Chicago for 10 years and Columbia College Chicago for five years, as well.

The national search was conducted in partnership with Neufeld Management Group, the consultant company of former Breckenridge Creative Arts CEO Matt Neufeld. Neufeld resigned from BreckCreate in 2021 and was named executive director of Crested Butte Center for the Arts in 2022.

The public will have the chance to meet Stone during the Backstage to the Future fundraiser Aug. 11 at the Breckenridge Theater. Branden Smith, formerly the associate director while the search was ongoing, has a new title as creative producer.
