Breckenridge boasts art: The Main Street Station Arts Festival features 55 artists from 20

BRECKENRIDGE – Breckenridge is known – not only by locals but nationwide -for its quality art shows, and this weekend’s show is no exception.

This weekend’s Main Street Station Arts Festival features artists from last year’s July Arts Festival and September’s Gathering at the Great Divide Arts Festival – two shows the SourceBook (Portland, Ore.) lists as nationally ranked. In fact, it ranked July’s Arts Festival 52nd in the nation in fine art shows, surpassing Cherry Creek’s art show.

“This one will be national-

ranking within the next year or so as far as I’m concerned,” said Mark Beling, art show director. “This year, the quality of the show is excellent.”

The show includes paintings, metal, wood, glass, sculpture, photography, pottery, fiber, jewelry and mixed media.

“(It’s) filled with artists’ work for everyone, whether it’s fine sculpture or fine painting to a colorful hand-thrown platter,” he said. “Remember many of the greatest artists of America started their journey to the top by displaying their work in shows much like these. This is a great show for the patrons to come and meet the artists to learn about their work.”

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Sunday at the Main Street Station, at the corner of Main Street and South Park Avenue in Breckenridge.
