Breckenridge: Call for Ullr Fest floats

Daily News staff report

Parade float entries are now being accepted for the 50th anniversary Ullr Fest parade to take place Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Entry is free and winners receive cash – $1,000 for first, $300 for second and $200 for third – Bud Light prizes and more. Community members are encouraged to show their creativity, as a new Travel Channel show, “Edge of America” will shoot the parade and other Ullr Fest activities. Float submissions are due by Tuesday. Email events@gobreck.com with questions or to submit.

Each winter, snow-worshipers don Viking horns and line the streets of Breckenridge to pay homage to Ullr, the Norse god of snow. The 50th annual celebration, going on through Saturday, gives thanks for snow with a notorious Main Street parade, wacky Ullympic competitions, a new family night, town bonfire and more.
