Breckenridge Town Council passed three separate agenda items Tuesday night, including a measure to loosen controls on e-bikes, a land swap with the Summit School District and a fact-finding resolution for a potential annexation, all in unanimous votes.

As expected, Breckenridge followed the Summit Board of County Commissioners’ lead and easily supported an ordinance on second reading to allow Class 1 e-bikes on the Summit County Recpath in town.

The county controls the vast majority of the recpath system, and a similar measure was passed by county commissioners, also on Tuesday.

With that, e-bikes will soon be allowed on all town streets and designated motorized routes, but they are still not permitted on designated non-motorized, natural-surface trails.

Meanwhile, Breckenridge Town Council also supported on first reading a land swap with the Summit School District, in which the district would get two Blue 52 Townhomes and 10 acres of town-owned land on the McCain property while the town would receive an 8.7 acres of vacant land owned by the school district on Block 11.

In another agenda item, council supported a fact-finding resolution regarding a potential annexation of The Kenington Townhomes off Huron Road.
