Breckenridge: Learn about bears at Riverwalk Center on Thursday

Daily News staff report

Summit County Bear Aware coordinator Gail Marshall, along with Colorado Division of Wildlife district wildlife managers Shannon Schwab and Sean Shepherd, are opening the doors to the public to learn about bears in the High Country on Thursday.

From 6:30-8 p.m. at the Riverwalk Center in Breck, individuals can gather for free to learn and ask questions about bear biology, adaptation, behavior, management policy and human interactions with the creatures.

“People should come to learn about hiking and camping in bear country and how to coexist with wildlife,” Marshall said. “People have to somewhat take responsibility.”

The presentations will be interactive, with footprints and skulls, handouts and brochures.
