Breckenridge man found dead in condo hot tub

BRECKENRIDGE – A second man in two months was found dead in a Breckenridge hot tub.

Firefighters and police responded to a medical call about 8 a.m. Saturday at Park Place Condominiums on Four O’Clock Road. They found Richard Van Horn, 44, in the lodge’s hot tub.

Van Horn, from California, had reportedly been living and working in Breckenridge for a couple of months. County Coroner Joanne Richardson said she did not suspect foul play, but alcohol might have been involved. She said Van Horn likely died between midnight and 4 a.m. An autopsy will be performed today.

On Aug. 2, John Chenoweth, a 28-year-old Breckenridge resident, was discovered in a hot tub at the River Mountain Lodge. Chenoweth was let in to the facility by a friend and an autopsy later showed he had twice the legal blood-alcohol limit.
