Support local horse therapy programs by attending a showing of the movie “Buck” tonight at the Speakeasy in Breckenridge.

The movie follows Buck Brannaman, a well-known horse trainer, from his abusive childhood to his successful career. The movie’s website describes Brannaman as a “sage on horseback who travels the country for nine grueling months a year helping horses with people problems.”

Fundraiser organizer B Casapulla said a friend found out the movie was playing, so they decided to turn the showing into a benefit.

“(The Speakeasy owners) were very generous about giving us a very good deal and screening the movie for us specifically for the local horse therapy programs,” Casapulla said.

Casapulla – who helps run an equine-assisted psychotherapy program herself, Reins of Change – said proceeds will be split among three local programs: the Mountain HOPE Foundation in Breckenridge, Swan Center Outreach in Silverthorne and the Troublesome Horse Rescue in nearby Kremmling.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20, and wine and soft drinks will be sold.

Casapulla would like to see all 155 theater seats occupied.

“Every little bit helps,” she said. “If we could fill the theater, we’d be thrilled.”
