Breckenridge Music Festival announces Blue River Series
The Breckenridge Music Festival has announced the lineup for this summer’s Blue River Series. The 2010 Blue River Series will bring some familiar faces as well as new acts to the BMF’s summer festival. Ranging from jazz to Southern rock, the 2010 Blue River Series will surely not disappoint music fans in Summit County. Concerts take place June through August at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge. Tickets for all shows go on sale May 29 through the Riverwalk Center Box office.
The Breckenridge Music Festival’s Blue River Series will get off to an early start in 2010 with a performance on Sunday, June 20 by Dublin-born rockabilly/blues artist Imelda May. May’s vocals create their own mix of classic and oddly modern swing, blues and rockabilly music. She has a look and a presence that lights up the stage. Tickets are $25 in advance and $28 day of show.
On Thursday July 1, Preservation Hall Jazz Band makes its way to Breckenridge. Named after the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, the band has travelled the world to share and nurture the art form of New Orleans Jazz since its founding nearly 40 years ago. Whether performing at Carnegie Hall or Lincoln Center, or in the Riverwalk Center in Summit County, their music embodies a joyful, timeless spirit. Tickets are $32 in advance, and $37 day of show.
On Friday July 9, The BoDeans will take the stage in the Riverwalk Center. A roots-rock band from Milwaukee, The BoDeans have enjoyed great commercial success with numerous songs including “Closer to Free,” “Good Things” and “Only Love.” With more than a dozen albums to their credit, and a new album just released this spring, look to the BoDeans for an energetic and entertaining show. Tickets are $27 in advance and $30 day of show.
Cross Canadian Ragweed will make their way to play the Blue River Series on Sunday, July 25. This trio is a Southern alternative country rock ‘n’ roll band from Oklahoma that will surely rock the Riverwalk Center. According to All-Music Guide, “they may be the last great Southern rock band still stomping the boards.” This band will put on a hard-rockin’ show that will not disappoint. Tickets are $23 in advance, and $27 day of show.
Rounding out the Breckenridge Music Festival’s Blue River Series, Marc Cohn will appear on Sunday, August 15. Singer-songwriter, pianist and acoustic and electric guitarist, Cohn is often described as one of the most personal, most introspective lyricists of his generation. With many hits including “Walking in Memphis,” “Dig Down Deep” and “True Companion,” Cohn’s show will be a fantastic ending to the 2010 BRS. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 day of show.
A sixth BRS date will be added within the next week, so check the BMF website.
Talent Buyer for the Blue River Series Rick Hansen says, “we are extremely excited for this year’s Blue River Series. We have a very eclectic lineup and there will be something for everyone to enjoy.”
