Breckenridge officials advise people to review town evacuation plan

- Daily News staff report

The town of Breckenridge has prepared an evacuation plan with routes for exiting in case of emergency.

“Breckenridge is situated within a wildland-urban interface, with only one main road (Highway 9) leading north and south through the valley. Therefore, it is important to follow emergency information,” according to a town press release.

Town officials encourage anyone in the area to visit or and select the “Emergency Preparedness” icon. The evacuation plan and latest information are to be available.

Guests of resorts are to receive a flier when they check in, which details how to access the online evacuation plan and stay informed.

The Breckenridge Police Department is enforcing fireworks laws with “zero-tolerance enforcement,” according to a press release.

“All fireworks, except sparklers, ground spinners and small fountains are illegal,” according to the press release, which adds that fines up to $1,000 are possible.
