Breckenridge police ask public to report any harassment of young, injured moose hanging around downtown

A young moose that reportedly has been seen limping around downtown Breckenridge is pictured recently. The Breckenridge Police Department is asking the public to only call dispatch if anyone sees the moose being harassed or if it is acting aggressively toward people.

A young moose with a limp that’s decided to hang around downtown Breckenridge recently has prompted the Breckenridge Police Department issue an advisory.

The department said it’s aware of the situation and that residents should only call dispatch if people are harassing or getting to close to the moose or if the moose is showing signs of aggression.

“Please keep your distance and be respectful,” Breckenridge Police Department stated.



Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the police department are committed to protecting the community and its wildlife, according to the social media post.
