Breckenridge Resort Chamber recognizes outstanding work

BRECKENRIDGE – The Breckenridge Resort Chamber (BRC) has recognized four Breckenridge employees for going above and beyond in the realm of guest service.

The four were Lindsay Malkiwicz of Sun Logic, Ben Dunbar of the St. Bernard Inn, Clara Marquez of City Market and Scottie Kees of Shirt and Ernie’s.

The awards are distributed monthly as part of the BRC’s Friends Welcome program, which teaches employees the importance of good service to customers. Winners receive $120 worth of gift certificates for businesses around town.

Ron Nuttall of Denver nominated Malkiwicz, saying she was courteous and helpful – even at closing time.

“She treated me as if I was the first customer of the day,” he wrote in his nomination. “She showed me the features of the interchangeable lens and then cleaned all six lenses before ringing up the sale. She is a definite asset to Sun Logic and the town of Breckenridge.”

His comments were echoed by a woman named Sabrina of Centennial.

“Lindsay was friendly and warm, she immediately asked what my needs were, she joked around with me, she knew the merchandise well and she had a very pleasant attitude. She was so good, I went back to purchase more.”

Stephanie Auld of Breckenridge nominated Dunbar for his outstanding service as a bartender.

“Ben provides a fun and friendly atmosphere whether you are a guest or a local,” Auld wrote. “I have also seen Ben find alternate ways for people to get home if they are too intoxicated to drive. Ben goes out of his way to make sure his patrons are well taken care of.”

Jane Hansen of Breckenridge nominated Kees, saying the Shirt and Ernie’s employee is always hard at work.

“He’s personable to a degree that charms the visitors to our county, and they leave with a good feeling and a smile on their face,” Hansen said. “If there were more employees like Scottie, everyone would come to our town and never leave.”

Janet Hokel of Breckenridge nominated Marquez for her professional, courteous and knowledgeable service.

The customer service training program is free to Breckenridge businesses and takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. Employees and businesses receive a certificate noting that they are Friends Welcome-certified.

The BRC is accepting nominations for next month’s awards, which will be announced May 21 at the next BRC Mixer at Names and Numbers. To obtain a nomination form or for more information about the program, contact Jen Federocko, (970) 453-2913, ext. 206.
