Breckenridge schools begin with generous donation

Daily News staff report

BRECKENRIDGE – Grand Timber Lodge and more than 60 participating merchants made a donation Thursday of $10,025 that was split between the four local schools in Breckenridge. The donation comes from the Grand Timber Lodge Merchant Program, which donates a portion of its proceeds to local nonprofits.

Each school received a check for $2,506 from Mike Millisor, president of Grand Timber Lodge. Little Red School House (pre-school) is using the funds for its new building project. Carriage House Early Learning Center has allocated its check toward a matching grant it received from the town of Breckenridge for playground improvements. Upper Blue Elementary and Breckenridge Elementary will use their donations for field trips and the Before/After School Program Scholarships.

Since the program’s inception four years ago, Grand Timber Lodge and participating merchants have donated more than $35,000 to local schools.

“Our children are the future, therefore, we feel it is important to support the future of Breckenridge through it’s schools,” Millisor said.
