Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union and Vail Resorts reach tentative agreement after late-night bargaining session

Following a multi-hour bargaining session on Thursday night, Nov. 13, the Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union and Vail Resorts have reached an agreement.

“Breckenridge Ski Resort and the Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union are pleased to announce that we have reached a new tentative agreement through November 15, 2028,” the two entities said in a joint statement. “The Union’s bargaining committee is unanimously recommending ratification by its members. Until contract ratification, neither party will be accepting media requests.”

The bargaining session comes after Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union president Ryan Dineen notified Breckenridge Town Council of a potential picket at a Tuesday, Nov. 11, meeting during public comment. In the same meeting, Dineen said he applied for a permit to picket through the Breckenridge Police Department and that the picket would take place on Sunday, Nov. 16. Dineen said during the meeting that Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union was in negotiations with Vail Resorts to secure a labor contract to replace one that was set to expire on Saturday, Nov. 15. He said the two groups had been in these negotiations since April.

With the two entities successfully reaching an agreement, members of the organization will no longer picket at the bottom of the BreckConnect Gondola on Sunday. Details of the tentative agreement have yet to be released, but the union was hoping to receive a new contract that maintained and improved wages, benefits, educational opportunities and more.
