Breckenridge Ski Resort announces it will close its slopes on Sunday, May 15, two weeks ahead of schedule
Breckenridge Ski Resort announced in the afternoon hours of Thursday, May 12, that the ski resort will close for the 2021-22 winter season on Sunday, May 15.
The resort planned on staying open until Memorial Day on May 30, but warm weather led to rapidly melting snow and the ultimate decision to close two weeks earlier than planned.
Breckenridge Ski Resort opened for its 60th anniversary season on Nov. 12, 2021. It was in operation for 185 days of skiing and riding this season.
As the current winter season comes to a close, Breckenridge Ski Resort is hard at work prepping for next winter, and work is already underway to upgrade the Rip’s Ride chairlift to a new high-speed quad chairlift.
Rip’s Ride chairlift will be a great enhancement for Peak 8’s learning terrain and ski and snowboard school guests.
Construction will take place throughout the summer, with the lift set to open for the 2022-23 winter season.
The resort will open for the summer season on Friday, June 17.
