BRECKENRIDGE – The Breckenridge Ski Resort is investigating how three people fell about 20 feet from the Quicksilver Super 6 Lift last week, said resort spokesperson Nicky DeFord. Two minors and an adult dropped from the six-person chair between tower one and tower two of Peak 9’s Quicksilver Lift on Friday, DeFord said.An ambulance transported all three to Swedish Medical Center in Denver with non life-threatening injuries, she said.DeFord did not know the victims’ names, but said they are Colorado residents who were visiting Breckenridge for the day when the incident occurred. The resort is taking witness statements, and looking into the accident to determine whether it was caused by a lift malfunction or other reasons.”With so many different stories and people in the mix, it’ll be a while before we figure out how it happened … it could be three days, it could be a month, it just depends on what the outcomes are as we’re looking through the investigation,” she said. The lift is located in the Beaver Run area at the base of Peak 9, and serves beginner-level trails. The resort was busy on Friday with holiday skiers and lift operators were loading six people onto every chair, DeFord said.Nicole Formosa can be reached at (970) 668-3998 ext. 13625, or at
