Breckenridge’s Red, White & Blue reaches for international accreditation

The Red, White & Blue Fire Protection District is working toward international accreditation as a fire and emergency agency from the nonprofit agency, Commission on Fire Accreditation International, Inc. The accreditation would put Red, White & Blue in league with an elite group of fire departments in the world, according to a statement from the district Wednesday. Red, White & Blue is in the final stretch toward achieving the accreditation, according to the statement. The district is required to meet more than 250 performance indicators and undergo an evaluation examining all areas of service through the accreditation process. “This process has really opened our eyes to those areas needing further assessment and improvement,” Fire Chief Gary Green stated in the release. “Today’s all-hazards emergency response demands versatile, well-trained troops deployed efficiently and complemented with effective prevention and preparedness; accreditation provides the necessary framework for this endeavor.”Red, White & Blue aims to be the fifth fire department to earn the accreditation.
