Brian Blanche: Liberals making a mess

Each day I open the newspaper to another headline that makes my blood boil. In a recent Denver Post: “Salazar slows ‘rush’ to offshore drilling, pushes renewables.” A day or two before, our new interior secretary nixed bidding on thousands of acres of public properties about to be opened for drilling. The secretary’s explanation is that our desire for domestic sources of oil is “torpedoing” renewable energy research.”

Dah. Perhaps once the proponents of renewable energy find economic ways of producing it we can stop drilling, but until then our elected officials need to heed the will of the American people and make this country independent of foreign oil by producing it here. While the housing crises (caused by liberals in Congress trying to force home ownership on many who could not afford it) was indeed a major cause for our current economic downturn, doesn’t the secretary understand that $4-plus per gallon gas prices also contributed? The administration seems intent on putting government in charge of health care. Until recently, I thought I’d prepared well for retirement, but between bailouts and self-destructive legislation, this new leftist leaning administration and its supportive liberal Congress is on a course that I fear will bring this country to its economic knees and me to an earlier than anticipated grave. Call your congressperson and senator and tell them to wise up before it is too late and next time vote for the other guys.
