Brianne Snow: Slow down and pay attention

Brianne Snow

I live in a construction zone – I get frustrated every time I drive to my house on Ryan Gulch Road, get to Frisco from Dillon, drive anywhere in Breckenridge, get through the rock scaling to make it to Denver, sit in traffic on Vail Pass while they pave, etc. I get the complaining and I get that it is a huge inconvenience, but what I don’t understand is why people do not just leave a little earlier to get to where they are going.

On a recent Tuesday, a flagger on Ryan Gulch Road was mowed down by a stopped car that was slammed into by another driver going way too fast and not paying attention. He was knocked unconscious and as much as it was “inconvenient” for there to be yet another road diversion, I am sure that him being rushed to the hospital was not the best way to have his day end. Nor the man whose car was pushed into the flagger. Nor the family of the man that was hit. Nor the company he worked for who considers the man to be a part of the family.

Please slow down and pay attention. Be annoyed at all the “stop and go” but be aware of those around you.
