Broken Compass, Breck Brewery and Talbott’s Cider make their annual potluck a Maui fundraiser
Broken Compass will host its Oktoberfest Locals Kickoff party Thursday, Sept. 14, with a German-inspired potluck starting at 6:30 p.m. This is taking the place of the usual Meet the Brewers Dinner that was previously held at Beaver Run before the festival. This year the event will be a fundraiser for Maui at the original Broken Compass location at 68 Continental Court, Unit B-12.
Brewers from Broken Compass, Breck Brewery and Talbott’s Cider will be on site serving their drinks and will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the beverages being poured. For each pint purchased, $1 will be donated to the Maui Relief Fund.
Broken Compass owner Jason Ford said the idea for the fundraiser came from an employee who has ties to the island and has friends who were impacted by the recent fires that have devastated the area. He said he anticipates the event will remain a fundraiser in the future with the beneficiary changing each year.
For this year’s event, Ford secured local band Cosmic Charlies, who are slated to play covers of the Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd at the event. There will also be a stein holding contest, hammerschlagen, and other events throughout the day.
