Brooklyn’s opens in Breckenridge

Proclaimed as the only true billiards hall in Summit County, Brooklyn’s Tavern and Billiards in Breckenridge opened this weekend.

The establishment had a private opening on Thursday night and opened to the public on Friday. Brooklyn’s has five pool tables plus a lounge area and will feature live DJ’s on occasion.

General manager Diego Diezra said Brooklyn’s is not a night club, but more of a locals bar for relaxing after a long day.

“We’re creating an option for locals during the season,” said Diezra. “After you spend the whole day serving and dealing with tourists, you don’t really want to go drink with them afterwards.”

The club was named after the New York borough of the same name. Owner James Barr is from New York and is an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants.

Brooklyn’s is located at the La Cima Mall in Breckenridge at 500 S. Main St. and is not affiliated with the Brookyln’s at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
