Buena Vista Republican Dave Williams announces candidacy for Colorado House District 13 seat
Dave Williams, a Buena Vista resident who has been deeply involved with housing policy in Chaffee County, will be the Republican candidate for District 13 in the Colorado State House or Representatives.
Williams is running against incumbent Democrat and house speaker Julie McCluskie.
Over a 30-year career, Williams has led a residential design and building firm and served as the president of the Chaffee County Homebuilders Association. He was also a member of the Chaffee County Board of Adjustment as well as the county’s planning and zoning commission, which weighs in on local land use policy and makes recommendations to elected officials.
Williams, in a news release, stated that his campaign echoes the concern he hears from “many constituents, who feel underserved by their current representation.”
“If you feel you are over-taxed, over-regulated and way under-served,” Williams stated, “then it’s time for a change.”
Williams stated his campaign is grounded in the belief that “personal freedom should prevail over government control,” adding that he is a strong advocate for education and that children should learn in an environment free from the “social indoctrination of diversity, equity and inclusion.”
