Burglar hits Breck Main Street businesses

BRECKENRIDGE ” The Breckenridge Police Department is looking for suspects in a string of burglaries along Main Street that occurred late Thursday night or early Friday morning.

The four businesses robbed ” Canary in a Clothes Mine, Greta’s Ice Cream, Mary’s Mountain Cookies and Rocky Mountain Fruit Shake ” are all located near each other on South Main Street in Breckenridge.

Police officers noted that the doors of all four stores had been pried open, according to a press release from the Breckenridge Police Department.

Canary in a Clothes Mine reported several purses and jewelry were stolen, along with an unknown amount of cash. The suspect took the locked cash drawer to a back bathroom and smashed the drawer until it opened removing all the cash inside, the release said.

Greta’s Ice Cream reported approximately $180 had been taken from the cash register, which had been pried open; Mary’s Mountain Cookies reported approximately $470 was taken from a storage location; and Rocky Mountain Fruit Shake reported that $670 was taken from various areas in the store.

There are no suspects in the thefts and no indication that more than one person was involved in the burglaries, department spokesperson Crystal Dean said.
