Bizline: A vet for Farmers Korner

Summit Daily/Mark Fox

A: We are a full-service small animal veterinary hospital. We are able to care for most types of small animal companions that people embrace as pets in Summit County. A veterinary surgeon, acupuncturist, animal physical therapist, and radiologist will also work at the hospital with our team to take care of your pets’ medical needs. We have an excellent hospital team who will work with me to provide Summit County’s companion pets with superior health care and their owners with compassionate, complete customer care.

A: I am from Maryland originally. I moved to the county with my husband and yellow lab, Fletcher, in 2001. I was an associate veterinarian at one of the local veterinary hospitals for nearly seven years before I decided to open Farmer’s Korner Veterinary Hospital. I wanted to open a hospital in our county because I love being a veterinarian and I love living in Summit County. I look forward to once again being a part of the veterinary community in the county and continuing to help pets whose owners desire trusted, complete veterinary care.

A: I have been a practicing veterinarian for 12 years, although I have been working in the profession since I was 13 years old. After veterinary school, I completed an internship at a 22 doctor specialty and emergency hospital. This experience reinforced my devotion to provide advanced levels of care, maintain high medical standards, and promote the special bond that exists between companion animals and their owners. Although I am a general practitioner, I do have special interests in internal medicine, ophthalmology, and behavior.

A: Our pets are important. They are family. I want to give the best medical care I can to companion animals. To achieve this standard, I believe the pet owner needs to be educated about their pet’s medical needs and intimately involved with their pet’s medical care. I take the time to accurately assess and diagnose the pet’s problems and ensure that the owner understands what is needed to optimally care for their pet. I work as a team with the pet owner and communicate the importance of everything we need to do treat their pet successfully.

On a different note, our hospital is also focused on being earth friendly. From the decision to remodel a building, instead of construct a new one, to incorporating recycled and low-impact items into the design of the hospital, we are making environmental conservation a priority at Farmers Korner Veterinary Hospital.

A: I want to reach all pet owners who want their pet to have excellent medical care.

A: The hospital is centrally located within the county. I think this location will bring increased convenience for pet owners looking for veterinary care. Also, the hospital is highly visible sitting along Highway 9 across from Summit High School. The area’s visitors and the local pet owners in the county will be able to see the hospital and find us quickly if they have an emergency with their pet.
