Q: What type of business do you operate – what do you sell, or what service do you provide? A: I facilitate positive change in individuals who are willing and able to create that change for themselves. I do this through a body/mind/spirit approach. What is necessary to be successful in this endeavor is an individual who desires to change, believes that change is possible and has the ability to create the environment for this change to take place. That change could be getting rid of the chronic back strain, being able to relax completely even when life is hectic, eliminating limiting beliefs and reaching goals however lofty or ordinary they seem to be.Q: Where are you from, and why did you decide to open your business in Summit County?A: I am originally from Chicago. Five years ago I enrolled in the Boulder College of Massage Therapy and lived on the Front Range for about a year and a half. I have been living in Summit County for the last three years because the opportunity to work as a massage therapist presented itself. Summit County is a thriving community that offers me the opportunity to earn a living while enjoying all that mother nature has to offer.Q: What experience do you have in this field?A: I have been practicing massage and bodywork for four years, each year increasing my knowledge through learning different modalities as well as direct experience. I have worked at wellness offices, spas, sporting events, bike tours, businesses and trade shows. I have been practicing the Silva Method since 1980 and teaching the Silva Method since 2002. The Silva Method teaches us to use more of our mind to make everyday decisions, maintain excellent health, and increase our intuitive edge, all vital ingredients to a happy and successful life.I have been a student and facilitator of PSYCH-K since 2002. I utilize PSYCH-K as a tool to quickly identify and change limiting beliefs that our subconscious mind tends to hold on to long after their usefulness has worn out. I am a Certified Personal Trainer since 1993 and use this knowledge to help clients make friends with exercise. With a commitment to exercise that fits into and supports our lifestyle, our body becomes a vital part of our wellness plan. Q: What sets your business apart from other similar businesses?A: I truly use a bodymindspirit approach. Others like me believe in uniting our physical and non physical self but usually only incorporate one or the other in their work. Through massage/bodywork and personal training. I work with you in the physical sense. Through Silva Method and Psych-K, I work with you in the non-physical realm of mind and spirit.Complete wellness is achieved when we work together, body, mind and spirit. Intention is the start of perfect health and practice makes it so. One should practice in the physical realm (i.e. exercise, play and relaxation) as well as in the non physical realm (i.e., attitudes, self talk and emotions). Q: What types of customers do you hope to reach in Summit County?A: Individuals who want to make the most of their life. And business owners who understand that when they help their employees achieve personal goals of performance and wellness, they help their business thrive. Q: Why did you choose to open where you did?A: At Summit Chiropractic and Rehabilitation, Drs. Waerlop and Ashtalter use more tools than just chiropractic to help their patients maintain their own musculoskeletal system. Their goal is to treat, educate and empower their patients so that they can enjoy the full life that living in Summit County offers us. When I talked to them, I knew that they were genuinely interested in the well being of the total individual. I knew that this was the right place to start my work.Q: What are your plans for your company’s future?A: Growth. My own, as well as that of the people that I work with. I hope to introduce many more clients to the deeply relaxing and therapeutic bodywork of Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy in my office, as well as on site at sporting events and other conferences. And I hope to work with individuals to free themselves of limiting beliefs using Silva Method and PSYCH-K. In the end, we will achieve balance in the body/mind/spirit.
