Daily News staff report

A: Black Tie Ski Rentals was the first ski rental delivery service which was founded in Steamboat in 2001 and has grown into North America’s largest ski rental delivery business servicing 25 of the nation’s most popular resorts. All of Black Tie’s 13 locations are individually owned and operated by locals. Scott and I founded the Breckenridge/Keystone branch in 2005. We provide our customers with top notch ski and snowboard equipment tuned to perfection every time, and delivered to their lodging accommodations where our technicians take the time to make sure all of their equipment fits perfectly. Once our customers have been fit with their equipment we provide them with our award-winning ski concierge service throughout their rental experience. If one of our customers has any problems with their equipment during their rental experience we can meet them slope side at any base area to fix the problem and get them back out on the hill as quickly as possible. Since we are a delivery company we eliminate the need for our customers to ever have to stand in line or take their equipment back to the shop if they have any problems. We hand-pick our equipment from most of the major brands including: K2, Rossignol, Head, Nordica, Atomic, Roxy, Ride, and Nitro.

A: Scott and I are both originally from Pittsburgh, we both moved to Breckenridge in 2003 after graduating from our respective colleges. We decided to open our business in Breckenridge because of the great skiing and small town atmosphere. Our goal is to help provide the guest’s of Breckenridge and Keystone with the best vacation experience possible so they will want to visit Summit County year after year.

A: Both of us have been skiing for more than 20 years and have been involved in the ski industry for over seven years.

A: We provide our customers with the best ski or snowboard rental experience possible. Our business takes the long lines and assembly-line feel out of the ski-rental process. When customers rent their equipment from Black Tie we focus on their needs throughout the entire ski-rental process from the time they book until the time we pick up their equipment. We offer a great selection of gear at a price comparable to the on-snow ski shops.

A: We hope to reach vacationers that are looking for a ski rental experience that revolves around their needs at their convenience. We make the ski-rental process a positive experience for our customers, so they will want to continue to visit Summit County. A large portion of our customer base are families that don’t want to deal with the lines in stationary ski rental shops, but would rather sit back, relax, and have our delivery service tailor to their needs.

A: We would like to continue to expand our company throughout Summit County so we are able to provide more seasonal jobs for Summit County locals. At Black Tie we would also like to continue our effort to become a more environmentally balanced business. We have partnered with a company called Terrapass ( which has allowed us to become a more energy conscious business by offsetting the emissions our vans produce in order to become more carbon balanced. We will continue to work with Terrapass to find more ways that we can contribute to clean energy usage for the benefit of the environment.
