Bizline: Treating trees minus the harsh chemicals
Q: What goods or services do you provide?A: Beetle Blockers provides the service to keep your trees green, and keep them from being infested by pine beetles which will ultimately kill your trees. Beetle Blockers is the eco-friendly alternative to spraying that you have been looking for. It is safe for kids, pets, our water supply as well as birds and woodland creatures.Q: What’s new or exciting at your place?A: We are so excited to provide clients with our service, and happy to report this healthier way of protecting your trees without spraying them with harsh chemicals. We have been working with foresters from the western US and Canada who are coming up with some very new and innovative ways of protecting trees without using toxic chemicals.A: What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? Q: Beetle Blockers is not your typical tree service as we do not cut trees down or spray trees with toxic chemicals. Our approach is to partner with tree services when our clients have specific needs such as needing to have trees cut down if it shows current or past infestation or if it is already dead. We pride ourselves on our environmentally friendly practices and the capability to provide a necessary service that protects trees while at the same time being safe for kids, pets, and the environment.Q: What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you?A: We all want to protect our children, pets, investments, and our property. Our trees are being decimated by the pine beetle, and it’s something we need to act on. We, at Beetle Blockers, want the best for you and your investments. The fact is, spraying with harsh chemicals kills a lot of other vegetation, gets into the water, and affects children and pets that play in the areas that have been treated with these toxic insecticides. At Beetle Blockers we have found an extremely successful method to prevent pine beetle infestation in our trees that does not create a “danger zone” like spraying does.Q: Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: A: Beetle Blockers is a company that was formed as a result of the devastation we see in our own community, as well as the surrounding communities here in Colorado and the western US and Canada. Something has to be done to stop these beetles from destroying our forests and the trees on our personal property. I moved to the mountains in Colorado in 1996 and really haven’t looked back – I love the mountains, the forests, and bringing up our family here. I went to school for business and communications and have worked in sports and media most of my career. After having kids and buying our most recent home in Breckenridge almost three years ago we were looking for a way to protect our trees without spraying, Beetle Block was our answer. After successfully protecting our half acre of pine trees as well as some neighbors, I realized that there is an opportunity to help others with our service, especially since such a great number of homeowners do not live here full time and may not know what to do.Q: What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened?A: We acquired a toll-free number that is 877-7-4TREES and I get 2-3 calls a week with people asking me to come take a look at their trees, which is definitely our business … they just happen to be in Quincy Massachusetts – A tree service there had this number before us!
