Free workshop on internet search is Oct. 27

Daily Staff Report

SUMMIT COUNTY – Local business owners can take advantage of a free, one-hour workshop on “search engine optimization” (or SEO) being offered by the Business Builder’s Toolbox at Colorado Mountain College. The first is at CMC’s Breckenridge campus from 7-8 p.m. Oct. 27. The second is at the Dillon campus from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 28.

“SEO has come to be the Holy Grail of Internet marketing, ” says Internet marketer Jeff McElhattan. “People believe if they rank well on the search engines, that will translate into more website activity and increased sales or leads. Increased traffic is only part of the equation, however. A business needs to consider the user’s experience once they visit the website.”

The workshop answers three questions: 1) What is SEO, 2) how can a business owner optimize his or her own website, and 3) how does a business keep people on its site longer?

Imagine That Creative, Krystal 93 and the Summit Independent Business Alliance (SIBA) created the Business Builder’s Toolbox in response to the needs of Summit County businesses. Business owners select the topics.

Future offerings include workshops on customer service, social media marketing, search engine marketing (a separate topic from SEO), and many other business growth topics.
