The Summit Association of Realtors has donated $2,000 to Advocates for Victims of Assault and $1,000 to the Family and Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) with funds collected through the Colorado Association of Realtors Housing Opportunity Foundation (CARHOF).

The grant to Advocates for Victims of Assault will go toward shelter rent and utilities. “Last year, we were able to provide emergency shelter to 25 women and 18 children for a total of 563 nights of shelter and provided transitional housing to two women and two children,” says Advocates for Victims of Assault legal advocate Katie Duggin.

The FIRC grant will go toward general assistance for homelessness prevention. FIRC Data and Grants Manager Brianne Snow says the SAR funds will help families who are facing eviction but able to demonstrate sustainability beyond the assistance. “The amount of money donated by SAR will help up to four families stay in their home, critical needs in the current economy.”

SAR CARHOF Chairperson Butch Elich says it’s rewarding to see how powerful these grants can be. “CARHOF supports down payment assistance, homebuyer programs, emergency shelters, subsidized housing, rental and mortgage assistance, transitional housing and more.”
