Cafe Scientifique presents global warming talk, film

The April Cafe Scientifique presentation will be on the topic of “global warming.” It’s set for 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Summit County Senior and Community Center. The presenter will be Dr. Martin Hertzberg of Copper Mountain, now retired, and who served as a forecasting and research scientist while on active duty with the U.S. Navy and who has been studying global warming/climate change for the past 20 years.

The presentation will include a condensed viewing of the film documentary, “Not Evil, Just Wrong.” The second part of the presentation will be prefaced by a showing of a brief film entitled “Unstoppable Solar Cycles,” in which a summation of much of the available data that elaborates on some possible causes of cyclic global warming, global cooling and climate change is presented.

Dr. Hertzberg will present and analyze scientific data that reflects the radiative equilibrium between the sun, the earth and free space, leading to his conclusion that the temperature variations of the last century are readily explained in terms of those modest changes in cloudiness that are observed to correlate with solar activity. A period of open discussion will follow.
