Campaigns are being run the same way hatemongers would run them

Is voting about who serves us best or who will harm us the least? There are many things in our society that have gone south over the years, but how campaigns are run seems to epitomize the worst of everything.

As I watch the ads on television, it is very difficult to see why you would vote for a candidate. Does it not matter any more what you have to say about yourself regarding why your constituents should vote for you?

Campaigns are being run the same way hatemongers would chose to run them. If even half of what the candidates say about each other is true, then why would we want any of these people representing us? Whatever happened to, “If you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all”?

To say the least, the tactics and words expressed are just an awful example for our children about how you should treat another person. How disgusted would we be to find out that in our schools the elections are being run on the basis of whom can disgrace opponents the most?

Of course, my last point is that the candidates do this because it works. What does that say about us?
