Campgrounds opening for Memorial Day

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

The Dillon Ranger District Office announced the opening of all campgrounds at Green Mountain Reservoir. However, McDonald Flats Boat Ramp is closed until the water level rises.  

Blue River Campground is closed until further notice.

All campgrounds at Dillon Reservoir are open except for Lowry Campground.

The Dillon Ranger District warned campers to beware of hazards created by falling trees. Campground guests should check the local weather forecast and be sure to place campers, tents and vehicles in areas where they will not be hit by a falling tree.

Firewood cutting permits are now available at the Dillon Ranger District Office for $10 per cord, with a two-cord minimum. The firewood areas this year are located at Gold Hill, Rock Creek and Ute Pass. Giberson Bay will be open later in the season.
