Capt. Joe Wray named Dillon chief of police
In the regularly scheduled council meeting on Tuesday, The Town Council of the Town of Dillon appointed Captain Joe Wray, Summit County Sheriff’s office, to the position of Chief of Police for the Town of Dillon.Wray, a long time Summit County resident previously served as the Operations Division Captain for the Summit County Sheriff’s office. Summit County Sheriff John Minor praised the appointment of Wray stated: “We are delighted by Joe’s appointment as the Dillon Police Chief. This will further strengthen the already close working relationship we have with the Dillon Police Department”. While serving as Captain for the Sheriff’s office Wray accomplished a great deal in serving the people of Summit County. Joe freely donates his time to many organizations and projects including Silverthorne PD’s Adopt an Angel program, the Salvation Army and many others. He holds a Master Degree in Criminal Justice and is a graduate from the prestigious FBI National Academy.Wray will start his new position with the Town of Dillon on December 19. Town Manager Devin Granbery commented “we are so happy to have Joe on board as the Police Chief; he will be a wonderful addition to our management team here in Dillon. Joe brings a wealth of experience and community knowledge to our organization, we are lucky to have him here.”Granbery further commented “We had a great number of qualified candidates apply for the position. Joe was, by far, our first choice for the position. All of our staff are delighted with Councils appointment of Joe.”
