Carter: Thanks for rummage sale success
September 3, 2012
The Summit County Seniors have wrapped up another successful rummage sale but not without the help of countless supporters. We would like to thank all of our generous donors – restaurants who supplied food and supplies for our volunteers and certificates for the silent auction, businesses and persons who loaned equipment and gave us auction items, and all the individuals who brought in bags, boxes and carloads of merchandise for our sale.
Local media promoted the event, and many businesses allowed us to post flyers advertising our annual rummage sale. Agencies and media in surrounding areas also provided publicity for us. Nearly everyone I encountered wished us luck, expressed their plans to participate, asked for more information, and even asked how to volunteer to help!
We had so many wonderful volunteers who worked in the weeks preceding the sale, the days of setup, the hours of the actual sale, and during the cleanup when it was over. Our new chair, Josie Gipson, jumped into this year’s event a few weeks before it all started with nothing but a “note” book and a lot of people tossing information at her. Wow, she really came through!
Each year, organizations that serve Summit County Seniors have the opportunity to apply for grants funded by the proceeds of the rummage sale. All of you who supported our rummage sale will make it possible for our organization to continue to fund grants and return something to our community.
Not only do we thank all of the above contributors, we want to give the biggest thanks to everyone who came out during the four days of the rummage sale and shopped all of the bargains. You are truly the “bottom line” that made our 2012 Gigantic Rummage Sale such a success! Thank you to all; we are looking forward to seeing everyone next year!
