Cause of car fire in Breckenridge Friday night under investigation by Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District

Summit County Sheriff's Office and Red, White & Blue Fire Protection responded to and resolved a vehicle fire on Barton Road in Breckenridge on Friday, Feb. 21.

The cause of a car fire that took place on Barton Road in Breckenridge on Friday, Feb. 21 is under investigation by the Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District, according to Capt. Tim Caldwell.

Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District units Battalion 6, Engine 6 and Safety 4 were called to the vehicle fire around 6:09 p.m. Friday night, Caldwell said in an email.

Crews arrived on Barton Road to find the passenger compartment of a “modern, German-made SUV” engulfed in flames. Engine 6 was able to knock down the fire within 3-5 minutes, according to Caldwell, and fully extinguished the fire within 25-30 minutes. No injuries were reported from the fire and the cause is currently under investigation.
